Post-LARP post: Twin Mask – Tournament of Solace – July 25, 2015

This was a player-driven/created event, which already is something awesome.  Any game that drives that kind of effort is doing something right.  It was neat to see interest from folks that just wanted to role-play and didn’t need to get “points” or “lootz” to participate.

This game is pretty new for me, so I didn’t know a lot of people.  Regardless, everybody was very friendly, even with the guy with not much RP-knowledge to add to the conversation.

The event was very low key, and obvious everybody was there just as friends having a good time.

I didn’t expect to be able to compete in the tourney for in-game reasons, and this was true when I arrived.  It was a “use your abilities”* tourney anyway.  I would have gotten smoked with a new character, but I think I would have had fun getting smoked.  Next year… 😉

Tapia Co park was an interesting site –>,-118.705587,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x4d8e95715e30ef31

The parking cost was prohibitive both in cost ($12) and the fact that you had to have change in cash to put in the little envelope.  On the plus side, I think if I ran a game here, folks could park on the street by my house and carpool from there, as it was a 30 min drive.  There’s a shopping center at the freeway that would work for that purpose as well, if folks were willing to park there instead.

I heard from Elys that it had a bunch of trails, so I’ll have to take Jesse here some weekend and walk them.  Line course FTW!

*It seems that touch tourneys aren’t something folks do nowadays.  I guess it’s larp-peen versus OOC-peen, so there’s a peen in there somewhere however you do it.
