Post-LARP post: Twin Mask Camper – September 25-27, 2015
Unfortunately, I was only able to attend Friday evening until Saturday morning at 6 before needing to leave for a work “thing”.
I can best describe how much fun I had, by describing the turnaround of my attitude I got almost instantly. This was a 4 hour drive for me to get up there, and I arrived at about 9:30 pm or so. During the drive, I was saying to myself “never again, 4 hours is just too much”.
I would do this that drive every weekend if the fun I had was repeated (with the hope that I could stay longer, of course).
The game that I saw was a protracted siege (the NPCs were doing most of the sieging) of the Lawler Alpine lodge. It was a great building to do this on, since it had so many narrow approaches. As a result, there was never really the boring “30 PCs v. 10 NPCs” situation.
I was lucky to get a “stay-up” kind of role, and I got metric fucktons of my favorite NPC role. That role has a long name, known as “that monster that fights 2-3 people at a time, and gets to enable a cool story before he dies”.
I got shot in the head with an arrow after taking an arrow from a different archer in the chest. As per my personal NPC “rules”, this was a great time to die, so I dirt napped immediately (I’m sure I had a good chunk of health left). I actually, heard first “sorry” about the head shot, but I also heard “but that was kinda cool”. Made my night.
I also had three people trying to push through me to get to a downed PC behind me. One of the PCs circled around the building to get behind me and get that body. That was awesome, and I loved being able to enable that story.
